The beauty of this Lance 2465 travel trailer is that it provides a solution with its full 4-season build. The rig includes things like frameless dual-pane windows, heated underbelly with heated fresh water tank, both propane and electric heat. It has a king size bed, dinette and coach (both turn into beds), 14 windows for tons of light and scenery, and large (as it goes for trailers) refrigerator and freezer, 3 burner stove, oven and microwave and tons of storage. This is our home away from home and glamping for sure.
The newest edition to our camping options, this iKamper X-Cover 2.0 fits comfortably on our Ford F150 or our Subaru Crosstrek. Currently it is on the truck and likely will be for some time to come. The X-Cover is a roof top tent with a design that eliminates the bulky PVC cover of traditional roof top tents and replaces it with a tough Rocky Black shell and durable canvas sides. It also features cross bars to mount extra gear such as bikes, skis, kayaks, and boards. This particular tent also features a sleeping area thats equivalent to a king-size bed with a 3" foam mattress. Additionally, there are windows on all for sides for 360° views and great ventilation. There is also two skylights for star viewing! And, it sets up in just a few minutes, leaving more time to enjoy the destination.
Our biggest piece of "gear" we own is our tow vehicle is a Ford F150. This by no means is the only vehicle capable of towing, but it definitely has one of the greatest tow capacities and drives like a couch, which is what made it an easy choice for us.
We each got an Exmed MegaMat, for some additional cushion, since we are both primarily side sleepers. Also, having a bed of air below us will aid in keeping us warm on cold nights, as it is easier to warm 3" of air than all of the air under the rooftop tent. This inflated mattress is a great solution for rooftop and tent campers alike.
To help carry our adventures through all seasons, we also purchased heated mattresses. Yes, these are electric, but we have a solution. Check out the rest of our gear!
Starlink has provided a solution to our biggest issue to a nomadic lifestyle, Internet access anywhere, everywhere, where the service is available. Compared to other options (MIFI, WeBoost, Cellular), Starlink provides phenomenal access. It just needs a power source. See our solar panel :) ! When in the RV, the Starlink is powered either by those solar panels or shore power, depending on our camping location.
The Intex Explorer™ K2 Kayak is a great piece of gear with a streamlined design for easy paddling. Great for experiencing lakes and mild rivers and perfect for two adults, the kayak is easy to inflate/deflate, has adjustable seating and is manageable for one person, when needed.
Overland Coffee has cracked the nut on amazingly tasty instant coffee. Their system has simplified the coffee game for campers. Their solution is to provide coffee that comes in it's own filter, which hangs on the edges of the coffee cup or travel mug and you simply pour hot water over it. I am not a huge coffee drinker, but this stuff is so tasty, it may be a new habit!
The Fold-to-Go portable toilet is sturdy, compact & portable. Its 3-legs are designed for stability when a toilet is required. When not in use it stores easily & folds down to just 5” high. It measures 14.5"L x 14.5"W x 14.5"H when set up. It weighs in at 4.5 lbs and is easy to store, durable, and very easy to keep clean. It has a leg locking system, so it is sturdy. And best of all, you won't have to leave the tent in the middle of the night anymore! This piece of gear is a must for us!
Dometic CFX-75 has a heavy-duty yet lightweight ExoFrame construction with fender frame–protected edges; strong, spring-loaded aluminum handles make it easy to lift and carry. It has dual storage compartments with independent temperature control allow for simultaneous cooling and freezing. Can be run from the CFX3 app. Once it's connected through your phone, you can set the ideal temperature and get a detailed history of energy and temperatures. We learned about this solution from the folks we met at SkyKamp!
Bluetti sells a bunch of different solar solutions. We had to account for the fact that we need to be able to work for 8 hours or so, with two computers, extra screens, and a satellite internet system. So this kit is likely more than the average "camper" needs, but is likely on par for what others looking to work full time from the road would need. There are many brands, all kinds of prices, but this setup should give you some ideas.
Joolca’s sturdy Ensuite Double shower tent is a bit like a ship in a bottle; it looks impossible, but it pops up in seconds! What emerges is a two-room en suite, complete with shower space, separate dry changing room, windows, drainage, ventilation, valuables compartment, toiletries organizer, removable laundry hamper, and interior as well as exterior towel lines. The dry side can also be used to house the portable toilet! :) We are always looking for solutions that meet more than challenge and the ensuite definitely does!
The Annex creates a room for multiple uses; store extra gear within arm's reach, a place to change, a spot for the portable toilet, when the ensuite is not raised, a cozy space for your dog to camp alongside you, shelter from the elements, and of course, mosquitos, and for us, a shaded and heatable place to work. We purchased an annex when we purchased the tent. Unfortnately, the one we received did not fit our tent, so we were able to use on our Songdog Journey. But we have received the replacement and look forward to using next time. The tent is self-supporting, lightweight, easy to install, and easily packed and stored inside your vehicle while on the move.
